Inviting members into subgroups:

Existing Groupsite Members can be invited into a subgroup easily from within the invite members area of subgroups by clicking the 'Groupsite Members' button at the top of the Invite Members page. From that page, you are able to scroll through a list of current Groupsite members and select multiple members by holding down your 'ctrl' or 'apple' key while clicking on each members name. The invited member will not recieve an email, but will be prompted with a pop-up the next time they visit the Groupsite asking them to accept of decline the invitation to ..

Subgroups can be public, limited or private.

Public (subgroups) = anyone can join and they are visible in the subgroup directory within the groupsite;

Limited (subgroups) = are always by invitation only and are also visible within the subgroup directory within the groupsite (note: non-members of a limited subgroup are able to see the subgroup's homepage and can email the subgroup's admins to request access)

Private (subgroups) = are always by invitation only and are NOT visible within the subgroups directory within the groupsite (note: members that have been invited into a private subgroup are able to access ..

"Subgroups" is the newest feature available in Groupsites.

What are they? More importantly, why should you care?

Subgroups are a way to create separate groupings within a Groupsite.  These subgroups have all of the standard features of a Groupsite (discussions, email, blog, calendar, file cabinet, member profiles, member objectives) while also allowing you to narrow the number of participants.

Why would you care? Here are 3 possible reasons:

1. Size - If your Groupsite membership has grown significantly, it might help to allow certain members to also organize by subgroups to allow them to focus on special interest projects as well ..
